Countdown to Christmas and Desserts Galore
Now that the countdown to Christmas has really begun let me help you make the Cooking of Christmas dinner easier with my handy printable time plan plus today I'm sharing lots of dessert inspiration.
Hello Friends
I hope you are all well and your festive plans are going smoothly and with just over a week to go the countdown has really begun. For many of us this time is ultra busy as we try to get organised for the big day and fit in lots of extra activities as well.
Its worth taking a step back for a moment and remember not to let any pressure to make things perfect spoil the enjoyment of the coming days. Christmas is about spending time with friends and loved ones, not how perfect the Christmas decorations/ dinner/ gift wrapping is.
I’m running a little late with this newsletter, as I’ve been taking time out to be with friends and lots of singing with my choirs. I mentioned last week I was planning on going off-piste on the Christmas dinner for the the first time this year and was planning to cook beef. Unfortunately, I left it too late to order the joint I wanted so I have changed plans again and now will be serving lamb with cranberry and thyme stuffing and cranberry sauce. I’ll serve the pigs in blankets in the evening as part of the evening nibbles. My family are happy for a change from turkey but they still want those!
You will find all the recipes you need for the traditional roast and more on Recipes Made Easy. On the day itself, a little planning goes a long way. As with any other roast dinner, the success of Christmas dinner is all down to timing. Each element of a roast dinner is pretty simple in itself, but getting the timings right so it all comes together at the end can be a little tricky.
So that's why I made a simple Christmas day dinner countdown a few years back and have used it every since. Excuse the basic look, it is functional not pretty. Everybody's plan will be a little bit different. You may want to be serving dinner at a different time or with different accompaniments, but easily adaptable to suit your menu.
You can find the plan here or visit my Christmas day countdown post on Recipes Made Easy (link below) for more tips to make your day run smoothly.
