Gluten Free and fit for a King!
Next week is Coeliac awareness week, so now seems a good time to share some of my favourite gluten free bakes plus I have a meringue crown that is fit for a King.
Another week has gone by in a flash and for us here in the UK we have another long weekend thanks to the Coronation of King Charles III. Having a king still feels weird to me after Queen Elizabeth's long reign and London is busy gearing up for the weekend. Although I don’t have any specific plans to celebrate I shall probably watch the ceremony on TV and go out and watch the fly pass, I do love watching the old planes go over and I know just the place for a great view that is only a few minutes away from home if I hop on my bicycle.
Do you have any plans to celebrate or is it not your thing?
I might use the long weekend for a bit of baking fun and my Chocolate meringue crown (on Recipes Made Easy) would be an apt bake for this coronation weekend. And being a meringue it is naturally gluten free.
I don't highlight my gluten-free baking, as there are others far more knowledgeable in this specialised baking niche (I can recommend Glutarama) but I do sometimes post gluten-free because sometimes I bake for those who cannot eat gluten, as I am sure many of you do too.
My sister tests many of my baking recipes and as she can not eat gluten she often tests them twice. Once as per the original recipe and again with gluten-free flour so I make a note on the recipe when I know they will work with gluten-free flour too.
To mark Coeliac Awareness week I’m sharing a couple of my favourite gluten free bakes from my baking blog Only Crumbs Remain.
Until next time have a delicious week
Chocolate Meringue Crown
A dessert fit for a king!
Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Blondies
These Peanut Butter & Dark Chocolate Blondies are soft and yielding with a clear peanut butter and chocolate flavour
.
Almond and Blackcurrant Roulade
I use a blackcurrant curd in this recipe but it is also delicious with other fruit curds and jams as a filling.
Summer Strawberry Roulade
A meringue roll filled with strawberries and cream
NB For recipes using cornflour, Cornflour is gluten free but not all are produced in a gluten free environment, make sure to check the package to ensure there has been no cross-contamination if you are baking for a coeliac.
