In Season - Apples
Make the most of seasonal apples in both your sweet and savoury cooking while homegrown fruit is at its freshest and most plentiful.
Hello From Sydney
I hope you are all well and have had a good week. My travels continue, and last week I had the time of my life tasting delicious wines from the Mornington Peninsular in Victoria and this week I arrived at my friend’s house in Sydney.
Sydney is my favourite city (after my home city of London) from those that I have been lucky enough to stay in. I love how cosmopolitan city life rubs shoulders with the sea and the Australian bush.
So far I have only had a glimpse of the harbour bridge and have yet to catch sight of the Opera house. I will be saving that until next week as I’m off inland for the weekend for more wine tasting.
The weather has been colder than expected with a slow start to spring, while back in the UK I hear there is an Indian summer with lots of warm sunny days in London. There have been exceptions and Tuesday in Sydney was in the mid-30’s so we went to Mauroba Beach to try and cool down. I’m enjoying it not being too hot most of the time but I’m sure that is all about to change there is hotter weather on the forecast and they remain short of rain after a dry winter.
Back home it’s apples that are in season so I thought I would share some of my recipes for both sweet and savoury dishes that you can enjoy making from them.
And judging by some of the comments and messages I am getting some of you are beginning to think about Christmas ( there I said it!) and getting ahead making cakes and Christmas puddings.
You will find plenty of recipes, helpful hints and ideas to make sure your Christmas is delicious on both Recipes Made Easy and Only Crumbs Remain and I will be reminding you of them nearer the time. But if you are one of those organised people that likes to get ahead then check out my Christmas bakes and makes post for lots of fabulous ideas many of which can be made in advance.
That’s all for now.
Have a delicious week
