In season – Blackberries
Enjoy delicious blackberries, be they foraged from the hedgerows, picked up at the farmer's market or from your local supermarket. Blackberries are in season now and into the autumn.
Hello Friends
Firstly, I must apologise for the lack of a newsletter last week. I've no excuse; I just didn't get my act together in time to write one. (Note to self must try harder)
This last week or so I have had a lovely boost of new subscribers to whom I would like to say welcome (and I am not usually this tardy) I hope you enjoy receiving my emails every most weeks !
This week, I have been at my cottages in Suffolk, enjoying the good weather and doing lots of gardening. While here I could not help but notice the hedgerows are bursting with ripening blackberries. I think a combination of heavy rain earlier in the summer and the warmth of the last couple of weeks have resulted in a bumper crop this year.
So this newsletter would have been a great time to tell you about the two old recipe posts I had planned to completely update, including new photographs I shot last week. But, alas, technical difficulties while I'm in Suffolk have meant they are not ready to republish.
So, instead, I shall share a roundup post of blackberry recipes, which features recipes from Only Crumbs Remain and Recipes Made Easy plus some from other bloggers I know. If you have blackberries, you are going to be spoilt for choice as to how to use them.
I will, of course, add the updated recipes to the round-up as soon as they are ready, so do pop back again to check them out.
If you are foraging for blackberries, the National Trust has some great tips on their websites here, including places to go blackberry picking around the UK. You could even combine it with a trip to a national trust property while you are at it.
Next weekend is a long holiday weekend in the UK, so I will try to pop into your email boxes a day earlier with some suggestions for some late summer baking, ideal for a holiday weekend. I've got a weekend of DIY that week planned, so it's going to be a busy one. How about you? Do you have anything planned? I'd love to know, so why not leave me a comment and tell me what you are up to.
Until next time have a delicious week.
