In Season - Gooseberries
There's something truly special about gooseberries. With their tantalising blend of sweetness and tartness, they add a burst of flavour with every bite.
Hello friends
I hope you have had a good week. I might only just be back from my recent travels but I took another couple of days off this week to spend time with my best friend Nicola, who was visiting from Australia. We go way back as we both studied Home Economics at Polytechnic and have been friends since the first day when we were partnered in the kitchens for a practical lesson.
It was fun being a tourist in my home city taking in a visit to Greenwich and a boat trip to Westminster among other things.
Back at home, I’ve still got a punnet of red gooseberries from the allotment sitting in my fridge waiting to become something delicious and the green gooseberries are almost ripe and ready to pick.
So next week I shall be trying out some new recipes with them. I’ve noticed they are appearing at the local market and they are now available online from the larger supermarkets so now is a great time try get hold of them to discover the magic of these underrated berries.
Until next time.
Have a delicious week.
