Make Your Easter Egg-straordinary with these Homemade Treats!
If you're looking for some fun and easy ways to celebrate Easter, look no further! I have lots of fun Easter bakes and makes on the blogs so lets get started with some chocolaty treats.
Hello Friends
I hope you have had a good week. I’ve been busy in more ways than one this week and have published my latest recipe on Only Crumbs Remain a delicious easy chocolate traybake for Easter. Chocolate sponge topped with dreamy white chocolate buttercream and decorated with mini Easter eggs.
Of course you could serve this cake anytime of the year if you change the decoration and I’ve given you some suggestions in the post. Because it really is a great simple to make cake for all year round.
And while we are on the subject of chocolate and Easter have you ever made your own Easter eggs? Its great fun, they look and taste great and you can easily customise them to make them a really special gift.
You can buy the moulds, which are not very expensive, in specialist cook shops or on line and you may even find them in larger supermarkets in the run up to Easter. So why not get some and give it a go this year.
Great Taste
Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme. You may have spotted the logo with a star rating on some of your favourite food products. This year I was honoured to be invited to be one of the judges for the Great Taste Awards and this week I did my first day of judging.
As judges we are looking for truly great taste, regardless of branding or packaging. We take into account texture, appearance and of course the quality of the ingredients; we will note a good aroma, a decent bite, or a particularly smooth or crunchy texture. But above all else the question remains – does the product taste truly great?
It is a mammoth task which takes place over several months. Last year over 14,000 products were entered! It was great fun working as part of one of the many teams of judges. It was also challenging and hard work as the final product of the day had to be tasted and treated as if it was the first. On my first day I tasted approximately 70 products. Funnily enough I skipped dinner that night! I’m now looking forward to doing it all again next week.
Thats all for now until next week have a delicious week.
