Lets talk pies, specifically savoury pies with delicious pastry crusts. The perfect autumn and winter comfort food.
Hello friends
I don’t know about you, but I do love a good pie, especially at this time of the year. So given it was pastry week on British Bake Off I thought now would be a good time to remind you of some of the fabulous pie recipes I have on my blogs. (Not that I have had a chance to watch Bake Off yet this week so I don’t yet know who has gone this week nor what pastry recipes they were making.)
Now the definition of apie can be a bit loose. Is a shepherd’s pie or a lemon meringue pie really a pie? But for my purposes here, I’m thinking savoury pies with a pastry pie lid. For puists and those that really like pastry, there are some double crust pies, as well as those with just a pastry topping.
Mostly I use shortcrust pastry on my pies and if you need some pointers or tips on making short crust pastry read my post How to make perfect shortcrust pastry. But I also have pies that use filo, puff pastry and hot water crust. So there is plenty to choose from.
And just for a bit of fun I thought I’d add a poll to see what you like to serve your pie?

Steak, mushroom and ale pie- Recipes Made Easy
This is a classic, good old fashioned tasty meat pie. I've added mushrooms because I like them but they are not essential and I’ve used a cheap cut of meat and cooked it slowly until tender and delicious.
