That was the month that was March 2024
Taking a look at the last month and looking forward to a more relaxing long holiday weekend with a bit of baking and time spent sharing meals with friends and family.
Happy Easter
The long weekend has arrived, so I'm dropping into your inbox a day early. Hopefully, it is time for you to take a step back and relax a bit. March, like every month has gone by at great speed and seems to have been as hectic as ever, so I certainly intend to take it easy. for a few days
It's also that time of the month when I look back s been ’s been happening over the past month. Sadly I can report that there is still no movement on my kitchen update so thats looking like it will now not be completed until later in the summer as we will be travelling quite a bit over the next few months.
Despite the lack of progress in the kitchen, it has been a month of DIY in our spare time. Like, last month, we were in Suffolk most weekends, busy redecorating our cottages, ready to welcome our first guests of the year. They always have to take priority over our own home, and old houses need constant work.
Last weekend we had our first guest of the year in one of the cottages they have returned to see Suffolk out of the summer season while it is quiet. Now we just have the 2nd cottage to finish before turning our attention to the outside. That is assuming this everlasting rain finally stops.
In the kitchen, I’ve been shooting some new recipes for the blogs, but I've mostly been updating the old content. Keeping them current, with tweaks to the recipes, updating the photos and keeping on top of the ever changing SEO demands of google so that they get seen is a never-ending job. Thank goodness for you my lovely group of loyal readers, I’m so grateful to have you here.
No DIY for us this weekend, we started the long weekend off at the Bridge Theatre, by Tower Bridge. Guys and Dolls is astonishing nearly three hours of immersive theatre. We were standing during the show just inches from the actors on an ever changing set, and it went by in a flash. Great fun! I was even briefly on set for one act.
I’ve been invited to afternoon tea on Good Friday, which seems the perfect way to relax and spend time with friends. I'll be taking some of my homemade hot cross buns, which are proving in the kitchen now and on Sunday I have my youngest son and his girlfriend coming for an Easter Sunday roast which will be a very relaxing and enjoyable way end to the month.
Until next time have a delicious week
Have you seen?
Easter biscuits
These classic old fashioned biscuits are called Easter biscuits because they were traditionally baked and given as gifts at Easter time. Lightly spiced and speckled with currants they are delicious and make a change from the usual chocolate confections.
Roast Topside
A good roast dinner is hard to beat and you don't get much more traditonally British than roast beef with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes. Juicy meat roasted just enough to be still pink in the middle, this traditional family dinner is what we will be indulging in this Easter Sunday. With all the trimmings of course!
Sticky Toffee Pudding
and this is the dessert that my son has requested. Given its still pretty chilly and not feeling that spring like it seems like the perfect comfort pudding.
and Finally
if Chicken is your roast of choice and you have left overs then this post might come in handy!
