Hello from Melbourne
I have been here some 36 hours or so just about getting over adjusting to the time difference/jetlag so still a little tired. Great meeting up with my best friend again and I am about to pop out for some dinner, after spending the day exploring part of the city. Loving its laid back vibes and the coolish temperatures of their spring.
I bake all year round but now that autumn has arrived (it is feeling very strange seeing spring flowers here) and with the Great British Bake Off back on TV next week now is the time that my home baking usually steps up a gear or two. OK so this year for me it’s a little different, but I will be seeking out lots of baking and food inspiration on my travels in lieu of being in the kitchen.
I find knocking out a few batches of homemade cookies goes down a treat and gets me back into full on baking mode. They are also ideal to make if we are having a bit of and Indian summer and we don’t want the oven on for too long just yet.
So this week I am sharing a selection of my favourite cookies from simple everyday cookies to more decadent special treats.
Until next time,
eat delicious!
Cranberry and Oat Cookies – Only Crumbs Remain
You really must try these cranberry and oat cookies, not only are they quick and easy to make, they make a seriously good everyday treat.Â
Snickerdoodles– Only Crumbs Remain
I love the name of these cinnamon ladened cookies as well as the the flavour.
Fig Rolls – Only Crumbs Remain
Fig rolls are classic English biscuits, they have a sweet crumbly pastry encasing a delicious lightly spiced fig filling and are very popular with my readers.
Raspberry and white chocolate chip cookies – Only Crumbs Remain
Raspberry and white chocolate is a match made in heaven and these Raspberry and White Chocolate Chip Cookies certainly taste heavenly.
Triple Chocolate and Orange Pinwheel Cookies – Only Crumbs Remain
The classic flavour combination in these triple chocolate orange pinwheel cookies makes them incredibly delicious.
Arlettes – Only Crumbs Remain
Fancy putting your biscuit making skills to the test? Arlettes are crisp, light, buttery, and slightly caramelised with a little hint of cinnamon. I think they are what I would call a grown up biscuits, a little more refined than the average cookie and a delicious treat with a cup of tea or coffee. They take a little patience and time to make but you are amply rewarded.
Orange and Almond Shortbread – Recipes Made Easy
I love serving these cookies with creamy dessert or just enjoying on their own.
Iced Sweet Heart Cookies – Recipes Made Easy
Practise your icing skills. These pretty heart shaped biscuits are not as difficult to make as you might think. Make them just for fun or give them to a loved one.
