Welcome to Recipe Crumbs
Thanks you for joining me for my very first substack newsletter. I can't wait to get to know you. I will start with a quick intro about myself and what you can expect from Recipes Crumbs….
So what are Recipe Crumbs
I’m Jacqueline Bellefontaine but my friends call me Jacqui, so that includes you. I am the writer behind two recipe websites: Recipes Made Easy for easy everyday recipes and Only Crumbs Remain for lots of baking fun and all things sweet. Recipe Crumbs will share news and recipes from both recipe sites here in one place.
Not just a newsletter
I’m really excited to be here on substack, as here I can grow to be more than just a newsletter. I’m looking forward to starting a community and getting to know you. Sharing my expertise with anyone who wants to be a competent and happy home cook or home baker. Or who simply needs an answer to “What shall I cook for dinner tonight?”
A little bit about me
I have been a cookery writer and food stylist for over 30 years – but still brimming with ideas and enthusiasm for the ever-changing world of home cooking.
I love food and studied Home Economics at Polytechnic. I started my career as a food Stylist and Cookery writer at a publishing company and from there I joined Woman’s Realm Magazine as senior Home Economist and later Deputy Cookery Editor. The magazine no longer exists in this digital age, but at the time it was one of the major weekly home-focused publications in the UK.
Since leaving the magazine back in 1992, I have worked continuously as a freelance cookery writer and food stylist in the editorial and commercial world.
My first book Microwave Herbs and Spices was published back in 1987 and I have since written 15 cookbooks.
I have always been a passionate home baker. It’s in my blood! My father was a Master Baker and it is from him I gained my love of cooking and baking in particular. So over time baking (and sweet cookery) became a bit of a speciality with several books on the subject including Cookies Galore, What's Cooking Chocolate and 100 More Bread Machine Recipes.
Times change and more and more people are looking online for their recipes. So at the end of 2015, I set up my own blog Recipes Made Easy and in 2019 I took over a friend’s baking blog Only Crumbs Remain.
I love being completely my own boss and only writing what I want to write without the constraints of a publisher’s style or designer’s layout. I’m not so keen on all the behind-the-scenes tech stuff and feeding the ever demanding social media machine.
What to expect from Recipe Crumbs
On my websites, I share great everyday recipes and they are also a place to come to for inspiration when you have a little more time on your hands and want to do a bit of home baking or cooking just for the fun of it.
On the Recipes Crumbs weekly email, I will be sharing links to all my latest recipes plus seasonal recipes, meal ideas and great bakes from the archives.
Over time I shall also be sharing some exclusive recipes and be available for Q&As and seek ways to help you my readers be confident and happy home cooks.
Coming next on Recipe Crumbs
Tomorrow I shall pop by with a round-up of the new and all-time most popular recipes on Recipes Made Easy and Only Crumbs Remain during 2022.
See you there!
Congratulations and welcome... I am a fairly new sub stacker...
How fantastic Jacqui - this sounds right up my street, I’m a home cook who loves a faff-free recipe - looking forward to your substack landing in my in-box!
